Tips for Starters

When you are just starting out, it probably doesn't pay to buy many wines for aging ('to lay down'). First off, you are going to want to drink some of them, note that 'good' and expensive wines won't be spectacular at such a young age. There are plenty of wines that are good and ready to drink now. As you drink these wines, you'll get an idea of what types of wine you like. With a little learning and trial and error, you'll get a hang of the style of wine you want to put away.

Keep in mind, how you store the wine will affect how long it lasts. Even the size of the bottle makes a difference. Getting good advice from professionals about that particular bottle is probably the best idea here.
