(AM=94) A brooding, indeed almost inexpressive nose of earth and dark fruit aromas framed by moderate oak influence introduces opulent, thick and palate saturating full-bodied flavors that are sleekly muscled, dense and powerful, all wrapped in a seriously long and linear finish that is perhaps a touch less austere than usual at this early stage. A seriously impressive effort. (AG=91) Medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of red cherry, licorice and flowers. Suave on entry, then round and juicy in the middle, with captivating mineral lift to the flavors of redcurrant, raspberry and spices. A rather elegantly styled, juicy wine and not at all a blockbuster despite its impressively richness and depth. There's nothing hard or coarse about this '05.
