(RP=88) The 2014 Clos Margalaine has a crisp bouquet with cigar-box infused black fruit, subtle, perhaps even showing some brettanomyces, yet it is attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity, harmonious with a leafy finish. I suspect this will drink sooner rather than later, yet it remains thoroughly enjoyable. (AG=88) The 2014 Clos Margalaine, the second wine of Marojallia, is dark and powerful to the point of being too much for a second wine. Huge, searing tannins dominate the wine's balance, while the charm it showed as a barrel sample is nowhere to be found. (JS=88) Some berry and herb aromas and flavors. Medium body and a fresh finish. A little fluid. Drink now. (WS=88) Light lilac and bergamot notes lead the way, followed by lively raspberry and plum coulis flavors. A singed juniper edge and a bright sanguine accent stitch up the finish. Best from 2018 through 2024. 1,665 cases made.
